This is my attempt at starting a blog, after stalking many wonderful teacher blogs this past year!
With my blog, I hope to be able to collaborate with other teachers and share ideas and information we gather.
So far this summer, besides obsessively stalking blogs and pinning numerous things on Pinterest, I have been working on writing lessons for Math and creating cute games and signs to use in my classroom.
Today I finally mustered the courage, not only to start this blog, but to also open a Teacher's Notebook store! If you'd like, I'd love for you to check it out! www.TeachersNotebook.com/shop/MissJillMartin. I want to create games and what not that are cuter than what I have now, but I am trying to resist buying graphics... must. resist. temptation.
I guess before I go any further I should let you know a little bit about myself. I am going into my third year of teaching, and will be teaching an integrated third grade class. For those that don't know, since my class is integrated, I will not only have general education students, but also students who have been identified as having special needs. I am so excited! I had an integrated class last year, and it was wonderful! Challenging at times, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
I would like to figure out how to make my blog cuter, and how to upload documents and PDFs to my blog so I can give stuff away! Can anyone help a girl out? It's very frustrating not knowing what to do... I am usually so technologically savvy!
Until next time,
Jillian
Hey Jillian....Look at you new blog & new store! You are one brave girl {I likey!!} It took me a year to open my store! As far as you sharing pdf, I usually use Scribd or Google Docs, but if you have a store, I would suggest uploading them as a free item in your store and then just add the link here. That way you will market your store at the same time as sharing goodies. I look forward to sharing ideas with you!

ReplyDeleteAudrey, thanks for the encouragement and tip about Google Docs. I will definitely link my product here from my store--what a great idea!
DeleteI thought I added the email subscription thing, but lemme check again :)
Hi Jillian! I found your blog on the We Read, We Blog, We Teach site. Let me just say WELCOME! I just started blogging about two days ago after following blogs for so long as well! I am so excited to have another newbie in the blog world..we can learn together! I'm also trying hard to resist the urge to purchase purchase purchase to make my items cuter, so I found a free blog template website for now. Looking forward to reading your posts and become one of your first followers!

Congrats on starting your blog and opening your store! If you want a great selection of free graphics to begin with, Graphics From the Pond has a bunch and she has a store at TpT. Also www.mycutegraphics.com offers a wide variety of colored graphics. Both of these ladies allow you to use their graphics as long as you mention them in your acknowledgements. The 3 AM Teacher also has a store at TpT and she offers some cute freebies. As for having people join your blog, do you have access to Google Friend Connect? Most blogs have both email and Google Friend Connect for you to join on the right or left side of your blog. I hope this helps!

Oops, I forgot. TpT has links you can add to your blog so that people can just click and go to your store. You can find it on your Seller Dashboard near the bottom under Marketing and Promotion and Link to My Store. If you visit my blog, you will see mine on the right sidebar.
